OverviewI am a passionate wildlife photographer from Norway, and long time user of Buteo photo hides. For my kind of photography, staying hidden often results in more encounters, more natural behavior of the species I am photographing, and also a cozy little space for the photographer during wet or windy conditions.
Buteo photo hides come in a variety of sizes and colors, and the spacious Aquila and low-level Falco are the ones I have used. Aquila gives you a lot of room, multiple openings for your lens and tripod legs. I can easily fit a comfortable chair, my camera on a tripod and my photo bag inside the hide.
For low level photography, specially grouse lek, the Falco is my hide of choice. This is a lighter and lower hide, ideal when you already have a heavy bag and a long walk ahead. I use this both as a sleeping tent on the night before I am photographing, and by opening the front window for the lens - it is all ready for use when the birds are arriving early in the morning.
Using a photo hide gets you closer to wildlife without disturbing the animals - a key part for me and my photography. And if your goal is to photograph elusive species like eagle owl, eagles, hawks or grouse, you simply need a good way to hide yourself. From the inside of a Buteo photo hide, you will have a wonderful photo experience!
